I use this lesson as a preview to the great depression (the New Deal). Students can easily find answers on the internet or their textbooks. It is broken up into 3 or 4 groups (depending on class size and jigsaw).
How does a jigsaw work???
Break students into groups of 3 or 4 (depending on the jigsaw and class size). Give each student in the group a number (1,2,3,4). All of the 1's in the class than get together and answer section 1. All of the 2's get together and the 3's do the same. Students than get back together with their original group of a 1,2,3 and share their answers so that all in the group have all 3 sections filled.
This type of lesson is amazing for building cooperative learning skills. It can be chaotic when first introduced, but the students quickly learn what is expected of them.
